A Great Workout For Your Football Training Is Right Here!

Being a strength and conditioning professional and personal fitness trainer here in Atlanta, Georgia now for over 10 years I have had the fortunate opportunity to train some great football players over the course of my career. The one thing I like doing when it comes to training is “breaking the mold” of what is usually referred to as being more “traditional” in terms of football strength and conditioning. Keep reading if I have your attention.

Football Fitness Routine

In terms of football exercises there is nothing more effective than by incorporating the kettlebell snatch lift into your football training program. You see if you haven’t heard of the ancient kettlebell by now then you are truly missing out on a terrific style of training that will increase your strength, power, cardio, joint integrity, and increase the longevity of a physical career in your violent sport. This is what kettlebell training is all about my friend.

To look at a great workout for your football fitness you can implement the one arm snatch lift. This is an olympic style lift that involves you pulling the kettlebell from either the ground for from between your legs up to a held position just above your head in one smooth explosive motion. The bell is vertically pulled by you initiating a forceful flexion and extension of both your hips and knees. Once the bell is pulling up you should make sure that your arm is mimicking the motion of you “pulling back on a bow” in order to elevate it to a position just laterally to your head. This is what is known as the high pull position. Once you get the bell to this position you must then complete the lift by vertically punching your palm towards the sky to finish it out.

The great thing about this lift is that there are many variations to it and you can incorporate bouts of plyometric drills in the form of a superset after the lift to further work on your football power production. The lift is every dynamic and you will develop amazing core strength, hip power, shoulder stability, and even speed from the lift itself! By going a step further and incorporating either footwork ladder drills, agility, or plyometric training into the mix along with the snatches you have developed a tremendous workout for your high school, collegiate, or NFL training program. By doing this you have done what I like to refer to as “breaking the mold” of your training program to destroy the competition.

If you are wanting to elevate your game and get your body into superior football shape then you have got to take the time to learn and apply the kettlebell snatch into your football training program. Guys that don’t are getting beat by guys that do! Its that simple. Take the time to learn more by accessing more of my articles on this and other great football training tactics for free. Remember friends that most any football player can train hard, but only the champions train smart!
